I have noticed that both Alex @EA8DKV and Raul @EA8AMT have activated Roque de la Griet EA8/TF-003, Montaña del Cedro EA8/TF-005, Colorados de Chinoia EA8/TF-006 and Montaña de Taco EA8/TF-017 which are the private land SOTA summits in Tenerife in 2022/2023. Alex EA8DKV quite often posts photos of his SOTA activations in Tenerife on the SOTA Facebook group also. I can see from QRZ.com that both Alex EA8DKV and Raul EA8AMT live in Tenerife so maybe they can advise on how you can obtain permission to activate the mentioned private land SOTA summits in Tenerife.

Hello Jimmy, I am ALEX EA8DKV, all the summits on the island of Tenerife have free access without restrictions except: CHINOBRE EA8/TF-013 (you have to request permission on the page of the municipality of Sc de Tenerife) and the Teide EA8/TF-001, this is free access but you can not mount antennas do not take out a laptop to make a call from 09:00h to 18:00 since the guards can sanction you. Here we do that SOTA or before 9 in the morning when the guards are not there yet or after 18:00 h … this last option forces you to make the descent walking and it is about 4 hours since the cable car is until 18:00h, any questions if you want you have my email in QRZ, greetings

Hi Alex,

Thank you for this information, I was of the understanding from previous SOTA Reflector posts and notes on the summit pages also that Roque de la Griet EA8/TF-003, Montaña del Cedro EA8/TF-005 and Colorados de Chinoia EA8/TF-006 were on private land due to these SOTA summits being in the Teide National Park which is the national park where you are restricted to the footpaths, but the footpaths not going near to these SOTA summits. I was also of the understanding Montaña de Taco EA8/TF-017 was on private land due to a big gate on the road up to the reservoir with a big private no access sign written in Spanish. However, you have more knowledge than most of us do as you live in Tenerife and maybe access laws there have changed in recent years. Me and my dad Tom @M1EYP activated El Teide EA8/TF-001 back in 2015, we managed to obtain permits to set up our SOTA stations on this SOTA summit during the afternoon, we both enjoyed this walk and SOTA activation.

My friend Raul (EA8AMT). He has more knowledge than I do about the national park, he has been a mountaineer for many years. I will talk to him so that he can tell you how to act in the national park, surely they will not let you assemble equipment on the peak, and if you go along the marked trails you will not have any problem on the other summits.

Yes how Alex is saying better go in the morning before 9am or after 6pm. Raul EA8AMT said to me go at night its better so you have a lot of time!

But remember its very cold as I said! And the wind is horrible!!

Update 02.11.2023:

Today I activated 3 peaks!
The first one was the hardest.
Overgrown paths, lots of cacti and the trail was very difficult to find. It was also very exposed.

https://sotl.as/summits/EA8/TF-015

I can only recommend this summit for experienced and strong-willed activators

The other two peaks are very easy!

I made a lot of contacts and it was a lot of fun! The first one no hahaha.

The picture was taken on the way up to EA/TF-019

Hi Julian,

Just wanted to thank you for activating all of these peaks. Sadly I could only chase you on the first one today but thank you anyway for activating the other peaks also. If I’m correct, I think you are only missing some peaks at the west side of the island so I will focus in HF and nvis, I think this will give me more opportunities to chase you from my current location.

Also looking for the @OE5JFE activations planned.

Regards.

Hola Javier,

thanks for catching me! I heard you yesterday but my signal was to weak. Im only with my small HT and my Diamond RH-771 isn’t working on Tenerife  don’t know why. The rubber ducky antenna works better hahaha.

Would be super if we can make some contacts the coming days!
Today I’m going to Activate 002 and 003.

Update 03.11.2023

Today I activated 2 more peaks on the national park!

Guajara
https://sotl.as/summits/EA8/TF-002
was a very easy and beautiful peak!
I was the first person on the top!
There was a lot of space for my 20m long EndFed antenna.

Roque de la Grieta
https://sotl.as/summits/EA8/TF-003
second peak was not that easy it was quit long to hike from Guajara to the peak and there wasn’t a official way. U need to go over big rock’s and I was 2 times on the wrong peak😅 it happens but i made 59 contacts.

Special thx for Raul @EA8AMT and the Canarian ham operators!
Also thx to @EA2DT its every time a pleasure to have QSO with u!
And also the other operator’s that are contacting me!

@IX1IHR Claudio we made it :call_me_hand:

Update 04.11.2023

Today I activated 3 peaks in the Teide national park:

El Sombrero
https://sotl.as/summits/EA8/TF-004
I was going uphill on the wrong side. The uphill part was very bad😅 but I managed it. The top was beautiful and the contacts too!

Montaña del Cedro
https://sotl.as/summits/EA8/TF-005
The way uphill totally wrong… The way down was long but perfect!

Colorados de Chinoia
https://sotl.as/summits/EA8/TF-006
I’m not sure if it exits a way for that peak  I searched something it was really hard and my power was finished…
Also my legs!

In the end of that day I was enjoying the sunset at the national park!
