Access to Kinder Scout (G/SP-001)

In 2011 a 5-year plan to restore the peat blanket on Kinder will start. This will involve the construction of sheep proof fencing which will remain in place for up to 15 years and will enclose some 1374 hec tares of moorland. The fence will probably run from Park Hall Moor to Fair Brook, to Blackden Brook and possibly across the plateau to Grinsbrook. Apparently access for walkers will remain, but there will be public meetings on 15th Dec at Edale Village Hall and 6th Jan at the Royal Hotel, Hayfield, both from 6pm to 9 pm. This is worth watching as access is sensitive here for historical reasons.
