Andy,
The Yaesu FT991A is on sale new here for $2,099. It covers all bands from 160 m to 70 cm. It’s up against the IC7100. The Yaesu is not light and would suit a retired Chaser.

I missed that one Ron.
Carlo, I was surprised to see this is still going as I thought it was a rig from the turn of the century. But it was first released in 2013 but was out of production for a few years before becoming available. It seems slightly weird to see a graphic mono touch screen nowadays not colour. But style apart, the IC-7000 which preceded and stopped soon after the 7100 was launched it had a colour LCD and looks to be essentially the same radio.
At 4kg in weight, plus a battery, you wouldn’t miss it if it were in your pack!
Well £200 is cheap as there’s one for £260.72 from s.w.radios on eBay now. There again he’s been advertising the same “SK estate clearance items” for about 2 years at prices significantly above market value. Especially as everything is “parts only” Nothing ever sells. But why would it? Who in their right mind would pay £260.72 for an FT290Mk1 or £1001.22 for a 25 year old TS870. But just like clockwork the same items get re-listed.
Or buy the other MFJ reader for £15 inc. delivery

IIRC it had an early reputation for inexplicably losing its output, presumably this was corrected during the hiatus.

Prepare yourself: the IC-718 was re-released for the 60th anniversary of Icom at the eye watering price of €920, £780 from ML&S.
