Reinhard, OE7RGF, says hello to his second SOTA mountain goat these days. Congratulations on this success!
Two and a half years have passed since his SOTA start. So Reinhard has really stepped on the gas! His SOTA tours are excursions into the high Tyrolean mountains, which are out of reach for most of us. He hops there from peak to peak incredibly quickly. Artists like Reinhard also see their mountain world with their hands and fingers and move there as confidently as an ibex. Sometimes Reinhard visits places where not even an ibex can go, only an eagle.
The mountains really are Reinhard’s home. And he is probably one of the very few who also knows the sky between the sun and his mountains. As the head of a flying school, he is very familiar with this perspective. As a result, he usually has no time for SOTA activities during the warmer months of the year. There are also YouTube videos of some of his SOTA trips with beautiful insights into his mountain- and alpine hikes and the mountains of his Tyrolean homeland.
So it was quite a surprise to me that Reinhard is currently for his “goat tour” in the Swabian Alb, a German low mountain range that is well known to many of us. As he says: “There is no drop-off terrain here and it’s really nice to reach a mountain via a forest path!”
Reinhard, keep enjoying your life in the mountains. It’s nice that we can always accompany you on the radio and marvel at your mountain adventures on Sotlas or Youtube. Enjoy!

Reinhard hasn’t been here yet for SOTA, hi. A proposal for 3 summits in his home OE7 between the Inntal and Kaunertal valleys. How about it? We were there last year on our summer vacation and marveled at these peaks, which are inaccessible to us, from the hotel only. And OE7 offers many more!
Big congrats Reinhard to what I would call “Trail Racing Goat” Number #2.
Just looking at your alerts and spots … multiple difficult and endurance demanding summits per day and activating them on HF most of the time. Not many are able to keep up with that! So enjoy and always safe steps to you!
Thanks to everyone who congratulated me. Sota has grown on me during this time.
At the same time, I am grateful for many things.
My father took me to the mountains at a very early age and so I learned to move around there very early.
The health that was given to me.
That I have a lot of time in spring and autumn
And my family who sometimes even comes with me.
These conditions allow me to visit several mountains in a relatively short time.
My respect goes not to those who achieve a lot of points, but to those who do not have my conditions (health, in the mountains since childhood, …) and yet always pull themselves together to climb the mountains.
I had a great conversation with Rudi OE7RDI. We agree that Sota is not a competition, but an opportunity where everyone can find their own way to pursue this hobby according to their own skills and possibilities.
My first goal was to get 1000 points with OE/TI without repeating a mountain. (Except for the Waldraster Jöchel, which I’m starting my year with)
Second goal was 1000 points in one year.
Those were achievable goals for me.
I have other goals in mind - so we’ll probably hear from each other a few more times.
Many thanks to everyone who has accompanied me up to this point.
