In fact its nearly as good as the FT857D, being the same size but very slightly lighter and with somewhat better DNR - but lacking 2m and 70cm. Having V/UHF capability is a fine exchange for having to carry the extra 200 grams! I looked at it carefully when it first came out but decided to keep my FT857D!
