Hi all, a SOTA buddy has an old Sotabeam (we’re pretty sure it’s made by Sotabeams). It’s the type with aluminium rods as elements, with nylon screws in the centre of the elements that screw into the boom.
He only has the 2m elements, but the boom is also drilled for 70cm elements.
It would be really helpful if someone with a set of 70cm elements could post the measurements so we can fabricate some as he’s really keen to do 70cm FM/SSB from some hills.
Thanks in advance and 73,

Thanks for the link. “My data book of aerial plans says” implies the lengths given are from another source, especially as 6mm tube is specified, rather than the thin rods used on the original.
I’d still appreciate it if someone who has an original set could check for me.
Here are the measurements of mine:
Reflector: 357mm
Driven: 328mm
1st director: 293mm
2nd director: 290mm
3rd director: 285mm
4th director: 281mm
Obviously the driven element is made in 2 pieces but the gap is hidden inside the screw.
