Thanks for trying to chase me on 2m SSB and CW while I’ve been on my local G/NP summits. I’m not sure if you have been able to hear me at all but I heard you on both SSB and CW yesterday while I was on Sharp Haw G/NP-029. I’m only running 5W from an FT817 with an hourglass antenna which does not have much gain and is not very directional, although I have tried to peak up your signal when you have called.
It was good to work you from the four G/SP summits I did at the end of last week when I was in the Peak District for a couple of days.
Yes there’s been some good ones, mostly that I’ve missed, but an amusing one happened last Sunday. I had just worked Tom MW1EYP/P on GW/NW-053 Moel Gyw and about 30 seconds after he packed up some Italians appeared not 10kc away. I did notice you tried to alert him with a comment on the spots page.
I managed to work 1 on SSB with 50w into the white stick vertical but was easier to move to FT8. I could hear the Croatian stations but nothing on pskreport from that side of the Adriatic but plenty on the Italian side.
I’m hoping there maybe some enhancements on Saturday, but its all luck of the draw. A summit to summit E’s/Tropo would be great, but just as happy with Fred 2 miles away in the valley if it increases SSB usage
I have a question about the current ranking. I was looking for a general ranking -All Associations- but I can’t find a general list for this year’s edition anywhere.
Is there any or we will have to wait to the end of the Challenge? You can view this overall ranking for past challenges.
The challenge isn’t a competition so there is no winner or need to see who is top. As the challenge is VHF/UHF, it is much more a local event, the number of QSOs on VHF/UHF will depend on the local ham population density. i.e. expect more QSOs in G or DM than in VK8 or E51. So local association figures are given so you can see how others in your locale are doing.
Thanks for flagging up this colleage, its the first step to anylise how he does to achieve this amazing challenge, antenas, power etc…
Asking for general results its to detect this kind of operators doing VHF SSB!
