It is with great excitement that we are announcing the 3rd Annual Queens of the Mountains YL SOTA Special Event Weekend starting 0000Z on June 13 and ending at 2359Z on June 14, 2026.
As we did starting last year, we invite YLs from around the world to activate summits, making this a truly international event.
The certificate achievements for YL activators remain the same:
“33” Award – YL to YL S2S
Double Trouble Award – Joint YL activation
YL participation – Activating or Chasing
WWW-World Wide Women – YL to YL DX QSO
First SOTA Activation for YLs
Working 5 or more YLs during the event
This year we are adding an additional achievement for chasers only – contact 3 or more YL activators in different countries/US states. Chasers can work any combination of YL activators in different states and countries to reach the minimum of 3. We also will announce the top 3 chasers in this category.
We encourage all of you around the world, OM and YL, to chase the Queens, and all SOTA YLs around the world to activate. Remember that in addition to certificates recognizing various levels of achievement by YL activators, ALL chasers are eligible to receive a certificate for working 5 or more YL activators and/or 3 YL activators in different countries/US states.
Please spread the word, mark your calendar, and show your support by joining us for this event. If you are a YL wanting to participate but are not sure how, please reach out to either of us and we will get you rolling. We encourage the use of #YLSOTA and #QOM in your alerts, spots, and social media to highlight YL activity and this event. We hope this event will continue to highlight the fabulous opportunity SOTA offers for women in radio and motivate more YLs to get involved with SOTA.

the 2026 Queens of the Mountain is practically here! QoM starts at 0000Z 13 June 2026 and ends at 2359Z 14 June 2026. Chasers should fire up their radios, and activators should check their gear before heading out to the summits, for a weekend of fun. Earlier posts in this thread contain the details for this event. Hope to work you wherever you are participating from.
Good luck Queens! I’ll be chasing, S2S, from W0C. I have a humble request… could those of you that normally activate on CW only, look around your shack, find your mic, and activate on SSB as well, to allow those of us chasers that aren’t yet ready to chase on CW to work you? Thanks, to those you can!
