Announcing the third annual W2 Fall Campout! The 2025 fall campout will be held Thursday, September 11 through Sunday, September 14.
Campout activity will be centered around the W2/GA region (Adirondacks). This is a beautiful area with many peaks from 1-10 points and everything from short hikes and drive ups to alpine climbs and 10+ mile day hikes. Last year was a great time with lots of S2S activity on both VHF and HF.
Location: Attendees are encouraged to book campsites at the Wilmington Notch Campground. The campground is just north of Lake Placid, NY in the heart of the High Peaks region where there are numerous amenities. Please book your site at:

Jonathan, Thanks for the reminder !! For those outside the W2 area, Lake Placid was the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic games.

Good evening all! The W2 campout is coming right up in only a few days! Some activators are already in the area for some pre-campout SOTA activity.
If you are still interested in booking for the W2 Fall Campout there are currently no sites remaining available Friday and Saturday nights (September 12 & 13) but you may be able to find camping or lodging nearby in the Lake Placid or greater Adirondack area.

Thursday evening (September 11) at 6pm there will be an initial evening gathering for drinks and fellowship at campground site 28.

Thanks for the information but unfortunately I have another schedule conflict. It always seems something comes up on W2 camp out weekend.
This Saturday Doug W1DMH and I will be on Carter Dome for Flags on the 48. Our time on summit is usually pretty hectic but I do plan to bring a rig. Hope to hear you all on.
