12680 li-ion batteries , any good?

These 12680 Li-Ion batteries have been around for a while and are not too heavy; I got me one. I’m sure they do not have the capacity they claim (6.8 Ah) but they may work well now that my Tacklife T6 jump-start battery has started to show symptoms of ageing (after 4 years and more than 100 SOTA activations). Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks!

I’ve used them for many activations with my FT817ND without any problem. No more than 2 activations per charge (yes has not 6800 mAh!!).
Now I use a Venus SW-3B transceiver and an home made pack of 4x18650 with DC-DC regulator, so I don’t use anymore this pack. But it is ready for use if I would try again the 817.

The marketing department has its own physics and calculates like this:
3 Lipo cells, each with 4.2V and 2266 mAh - connected in series - result in a total of 12.6V and 6800mAh :grimacing:

Exactly Chris. It will be wired 3S1P or 3S2P and they sum the capacities even though that’s wrong. 2 decent activations with an 817 suggests around a 2000-2300mAh capacity.

In other words about the same as I get with high capacity Nicads in the 817 battery box. Surely this advertising is in breach of the sale of goods act?

You go tell the Chinese company Brian. When they’ve finished laughing, tell them they can be prosecuted in a European court. And when they’ve finished laughing a second time they’ll look at you and just before they answer they’ll fall on a heap on the floor and laugh a whole lot more.
