I wonder if there are any VK/ZL activators who are keen / mad enough to have s2s with Europe. It’s understood that the 28 megs path opens later than 14 and that days are getting shorter down under as winter is coming. Last solar maximum, I had some SOTA contacts to VK, but these were not s2s.

Yesterday, Herbert OE9HRV at OE/VB-511 worked Matt VK1MA at 08:10 UTC on 10m SSB. Sunset was 08:32 UTC.
I will be back in VK1 later next week. Wx permitting I can activate a VK1 peak in the week 18 - 24 March. Sunset will be around 08:15 UTC and last light at 08:35 UTC.

I’d be interested in trying. I’ve had a chase this year from VK on 10m but like you, no S2S.

sounds great, are we commited now? 
Saturday, 23rd would fit perfect for me. Maybe it’s even the best option as Saturday will probably be the day most chasers and activators would be able to join us. However I can’t see a reason why not to take a day off on 22nd.
I played a bit with VOACAP and forecast suggests that we might succeed. Or fail. 
0800 - 1000 z seems best.
SSB, 50 W out on both sides. I set my antenna to 2 ele yagi 20 m agl (on a viewtower), what probably comes closest to the oblong I’ve used on 10 m since December. Assuming you would use a 5/8 lambda GP, this is the plot.
Weaker chances with a vertical dipole 2.5 m agl, much better chances with a vertical 2 ele yagi (GP and parasitic element?).

Hopefully 1RX will also bring his TX for the activation, so that we might hear his signal in EU.

06/01/2024 0944z: VK1MA 31 sent, 11 received!
I regularly get heard by VK stations on 10m FT8 on activations according to PSK Reporter but I don’t think I’ve ever had a contact.
Sri, I looked up your log and saw a vk station in a log full of data qsos. Ssb is even better.
However I do not get how a qso can be completed with one station giving 11 → not readable, barely percetible signal.

Seriously tempting challenge. However the forecast here is suggesting 20-37mph winds which would be a bit strong for my moxon. I’ll keep an eye on the forecast, but might give this one a miss until conditions are more favourable
