I think John G1STQ is asking if winter Bonus starts on 01/12/12. In answer to your question John, winter bonus starts on the 1st December and ends and the 15 March in the UK.

I think Andy’s point is that ‘WB’ could stand for many things, maybe a question asked in a more detailed way would solicit a more detailed answer.
Putting 1 and 1 together to make 2, then, yes Winter Bonus for some associations begins on 1st December.
It might be an idea to keep abreast of the latest rules by downloading a copy of the Association Reference Manual (ARM) for the association you are interested in from the SOTA website.

Indeed Colin. With 77 associations and 644 regions worldwide the question of when does the winter bonus start is answered by RTFARM 
(Read the fine association referrence manual). These are on the website for everyone to use.
We’re lucky with our bonus rules here in the UK as they are quite simple. Some associations have complex rules where some of their regions have a Winter bonus, some regions have a Summer bonus and others have none.

Whilst this is true, is there a possibility that the Bonus status of a summit is more easily identifiable from SOTAWATCH.
If we navigate to a summit from either a spot or from the summit link on the Sotawatch page, it gives us all the details we ever need, location, height, activations, links to maps/photos, tips etc. but no detail on the bonus/period.
Now go to the database, navigate to the same summit click on history and bingo, under Scoring history - BONUS = 3 points between 01 December and 15 March.
Any possibility this detail can be displayed in both views?

You can always tell when the winter bonus is approaching - things start to get a bit quiet on the activating front, then it all bursts into life as December begins!
