I started SOTABEAMS, a company dedicated to facilitating all radio amateurs to experience and enjoy portable operating. I sold-up and retired from the company in 2020. I currently manage an area of ancient woodland.

Professionally, I am a radio systems engineer with experience of portable operating in extreme environments. I also have qualifications in environmental impact assessment and management and teaching (physics).
