VK to Europe - A Big SOTA Day Out

Hi all

Thanks Herbert OE9HRV, Barry M0IML, Mikel EA2CW and Marcial EA2BDS and Allan GW4VPX for the summit to summit action from Mt Ginini VK1/AC-008. Working EU from Mt Ginini capped off a big SOTA day out for me. I walked 15 km to activate Mt Gingera VK1/AC-002 and later in the day Mt Ginini VK1/AC-008, which included 18 S2S contacts with 4 from Europe. :smiley:

Big signals from Herbert on HB0/LI-004, an arm chair copy 5-9+ each way for a unique summit, thanks Herbert. Barry on G/SP-015 also a strong signal 5-9. Mikel and Marcial surprised my with a ‘S2S’ call, not one I was expecting, nevertheless a good contact at 5-7. Thanks for a new summit.

At 06:53 I heard Allan calling from GW/MW-029. Signals on both sides were well down, after 2 or 3 calls we made the distance. Unfortunately an EA7 station kept calling over Allan, despite being told to stop transmitting and with me repeatably saying ‘GW only’, ‘GW only’, he (EA7) continued to interrupt the exchange with Allan. Thanks Allan for the 3rd new summit.

So to the EA7 station you didn’t get a confirmation report from me, you are not in my log. :frowning:

I called Martin OE5REO on OE/OO-322 3 or 4 times, sorry Martin I didn’t make the S2S with you.

Stations worked on 20m for LP to Europe: OE9HRV/p, ON5SWA, DJ5AV, OE7FMH, OK1SDE, EA2LMI, M0IML/p, EA2CW/p, EA2BDS/p, VK6MB, EU2MM, G0RQL, PA7ZEE, GW4VPX/p, G0VWP, VK6NU, M0HDX big signal Jim, M0LBJ, EA2AJO, OK2PDT, VK6GOM, EA2DT, S58A and VK1RX.

Finally, the S2S exchange with EU folk today has taken my S2S score over 2500 for the Gold S2S Award. Thanks everyone :wink:

Hi Andrew

Thanks for the s2s today. Yes, despite the difficulties we made the contact.

Conditions were different today as I could not hear any of the EU stations or summit activators so consequently you were my only s2s this morning along with another 5 VK chasers - thanks to them also.

Finally, congratulations on gaining 2,500 s2s points and the Gold s2s award - I’m working towards it slowly :slight_smile:

Hi Andrew,

the morning activation on Sunday did not go very well for me. Unfortunately I could not make any contact to VK, only 5 contacts were made within 45 minutes. I also could not hear the European S2S stations. Only Herbert, HB0/OE9HRV/P, was audible very, very low … not enough to make a valid qso.

But anyway, thanks for letting me know that you tried to call me for a S2S. Until next time …
