GI summits this week

Why didn’t Noah swat those two midgies?

Barry GM4TOE

That is correct, but according to your alerts/spots you were on GI/SM-020

Yeah I was, don’t know what I managed to do there!

Another unimpressive Sperrin that one! Still, it’s done now!

Finally hearing some GI on 40m
GI4ONL/P GI/SM-015 WAB-C63 wkd

Typical after you finished your tour LOL

OH well
At least 40m is becoming fruitful again today

Karl

Please see my other post I was actually on GI/SM-018 WAB C40 oops!

Managed to squeeze a final bonus GI activation in before returning home tomorrow. Rain has stopped and I have a little time available.

So, any band -mode requests to work me right now? Have 40/30/20/12/10/6 SSB/CW.

No takers then for that offer, and I had a wander back down to the car. It was a “walk of faith” in the dark, poor visibility over featureless moorland. I had placed my trekking poles to point the direction of descent upon arrival (when it was still light), and trusted it. Didn’t bother with map and compass. I was confident, but nonetheless happy to meet the gravel track back to the parking spot!

Very enjoyable week, which also included:

Visiting father-in-law (HGY’s grandad) in Larne.
Visiting Derry, seeing the murals, museums, Peace Bridge and walking the city walls.
Magilligan Point on the GI side of Lough Foyle, with its Martello tower and superb Point Bar restaurant (we ate there three evenings - highly recommend the seafood chowder, steaks and tobacco onions).
Visiting Portrush, Portstewart, Dunluce Castle and White Park Bay. Stunning coastline and beaches, and not a scrap of litter to be seen for miles and miles.

Some of the hills were a bit grotty with rough energy sapping terrain, bog and midges. Some were very pleasant walks. The views from the summits were invariably fabulous. We will be back.
