A tree on Livingstone Hill VK2/SM-093 just on sunset.
And some real mountain goats at One tree hill, vk1/ac-035
Hi Paul and Andy,
Sounds like a lot has changed in a decade, thanks for the warning!
I have distant relatives on Unst who may well be able to advise me,
but I will certainly take care when I eventually manage my own visit.
Must review some photos myself and try to get back on topic, but that
picture Jordan took of the sunset on Corndon Hill will be hard to beat…

DM / NS-117, a mystical place with strange perforated stones. Maybe peace-loving spirits live here. In any case, the antenna wire was broken and I had my first invalid activation. Only Fabio, IK2LEY heard me at 33, while Lothar, DL3HXX called in vain: DL1CR Sota DM/NS-117 - YouTube
A little bit further down Victor, on the way up. We couldn’t wear our rucksacks because of the wind (60mph)
Lovely views, but radio was a Challenge (can’t upload the video, but it was noisy )
The second one reminds me the album´s cover of ¨ Wind and Wuthering¨ by Genesis
My favourite photo is of GW/NW-012 Cadair Berwyn in Feb 2017. There was no snow in the valley at the car park but we saw the weather saying there was snow at the top.

For me, portraits make the best pictures. SOTA activations are solitary adventures usually, these few with friends are special. Like here on SP/BZ-032, with Bartek SQ9APD and Arek SQ9OKZ.
Left to right three great summits of Spain: Alcazaba (EA7/GR-003 3367m) Mulhacen (EA7/GR-001 3479m) and Veleta (EA7/GR-002 3395m) Picture captured from Peña de la Cruz (EA7/GR-016 2025m)
I don’t often get to activate the higher summits so it was nice to be above the clouds on CT3/MI-001 Pico Ruivo de Santana whilst on holiday in Madeira.
Yeah, it’s been in the family since before I was licensed in 2007! Still works an absolute treat though and as the saying goes - if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

I’m loving all these pictures! It’s interesting to see the variety of shots as well, covering seasons, altitudes, conditions, solo/joint venture etc. I bet someone could make a SOTA calendar out of these…

Rex @KE6MT took this photo of me as we tried to get to the top of W6/SC-047. As soon as we got to the bottom of the activation zone, we stopped and set up. It is the hardest bushwhack I’ve done (so far…)
