I am a late onset Ham, with an interest in portable operations - that’s why I’m here! I’m running an FT-817 and am going down the home built antenna rabbit hole.

In my employed life, I am a chemist who teaches graduate and undergraduate students, and does experiments with a much much much shorter wavelength region of the electromagnetic spectrum (~4.35 x 10~-9 m). I’m enjoying making the tenuous connections between radio waves and X-rays (EMR is EMR) and struggling to remember the electronics course I took over 30 years ago.
