Activate at least five 3000’s in my region, especially F/PE-001, which I failed to activate a few months ago. Activate EA2/HU-001 to complete my regional 001s.
Make my first CW activation
Finish the hexbeam I’m currently building for the home station and enjoy a few chasing sessions.
Get out more and stop finding excuses to not go. I’ve been too lazy lately, and I can see the consequences of my mental and physical health.
Reach 800 Points. This is a bit of a wimp out as it is only 4 more points than I already have….
Getting slightly harder….
100 Completes (Currently on 94) … which would happen if I ….
Complete G/LD (13 remaining but that includes Swinside which is a bit difficult so that might become nearly complete G/LD…)
Do at least 1 G/SP summit (30 years ago I spent a lot of time on Kinder Scout so that would be nice to activate)
Hopefully
MG. 200 points to go but it depends a bit on Dads Taxi…
Moel Siabod (Which if I got up early enough might be possible on the Welsh Weekend)
A few days in the Cairngorms. Frasers posts have definitely wetted the appetite so Lochnagar (which is another one I’ve not seen for 30 years) and whatever else the legs will cope with…
Possibly
The Far North Ben Hope, Ben Kilbrek ??? The challenge here is not only the walking but managing to get away for long enough to get that far north.
Activate from both Belgium and Germany when away on Holiday
Ben Nevis…. But not the CMA
160m - but that depends on Good wx as a 160m dipole is a bit hard to manage on any of the nearby summits in the dark if the weather isn’t really good - and I don’t fancy a night on the summit.
Definitely
Do not end up on the wrong side of a mountain rescue callout. Partly this is just luck, trips can result in fractures so I suppose I’m hoping that my luck continues to hold….
Hmm, I think for me it is simply to get back out there again. I haven’t managed an activation since August, mainly due to real life things getting in the way. I’m definitely suffering from withdrawal symptoms!
Ditto. Just to take every opportunity that I can. For one reason or another I have not carried out many activations in recent years, but it is what it is. Just to be able to participate is a privilidge. I know many who cannot.
Please see my thread via this link (Swinside G/LD-057). I suggest that you send an email to the quad biking email address that is on the Swinside G/LD-057 summit page and request for you name to added to the list of people wishing to access Swinside G/LD-057. The estate allow people to access Swinside G/LD-057 every March each year. The other option is to book some quad biking on Swinside G/LD-057, but this is not an option that personally I would recommend, it costs quite a bit of money and your are restricted to only 15 minutes on the summit and you can only use handheld and rubber duck. VHF isn’t great on Swinside G/LD-057 so trying to get 4 contacts on there using just a handheld and rubber duck and having only 15 minutes to do this is very difficult.
Same for me & Nic, Matt - targeting MG by the end of the winter season, but given the Lakes visit a couple of weeks’ ago was a washout, we might still be targeting MG in August
Some joint activations with Paul W6PNG/M0SNA (when he’s rightpondian) and Gerald G4OIG
Do an activation which involves camping out for a night or two. (In planning with some other SOTA loonies I know
Finally bag Morven/Smean.
I do like the occasional joint activation. I did 8 with Paul in 2024 and 2 with Gerald. I like walking with Gerald because his Beta blockers slow him down and I’m not tail-end Charlie
I’m sure there was something else but it’s slipped my mind right now.
Goats are gregarious animals, mountain goats even more so.
My lonely mountain goat longs for a friend.
I’ll try to get a second one therefore
Merry XMAS and a happy mountainous new year,
Alex - DH2ID
Get to 40 associations activated. Work trip to Brno at some point this year which should get me 3 associations if I get organised. 1 more to find in some other trip.
Actually get out some more this year (but hey, SOTAData and SOTAWatch are looking nice, so it wasn’t a wasted year).
