Arrrghhhh! You’ve distroyed my argument!
Now I must try Mars bouncing… If I’m able to carry the dish to summits…

My QTH in vk5 to VO1FB in newfee on 40m cw. I worked him on 15m ssb 10 years to the day before that. My longest qso with some coincidence thrown in.
Ian 42c again today …

Hi Ian,
My furthest SOTA chase was of you on VK5/NE-058 Mt Nadjuri on 14MHz CW in June last year 16,190KM (10,062Miles). This sticks in my mind as I think it is the only time I have chased a VK activator. I have worked VK on various bands, but sadly my VK SOTA chases are very few & far between. During the limited time I am in the shack I always listen to see if I can hear any spotted or alerted activations, but DX activations are somewhat elusive to me due to the very modest station & urban noise level I have.
My second furthest SOTA chase must be of Robert VP8DMM (G0PEB) on VP8/WF-25 Mount Alice on 14MHz SSB & 18MHz SSB 12,949KM (8,048 Miles) on 1st July 2010. I had listened for Robert from home the day before but my local noise was just too high to able able to read him. When I heard that he was going to be QRV the following day I managed to escape from work 5 minutes before the rush started, made a mad dash home, quickly made a wire dipole for 14MHz then packed my FT897 & SOTA pole onto my bike & headed for a rural area with a good take off in the direction of the Falkland Islands.
I was rewarded with two chases of this summit on both 17m & 20m. Robert was very much in demand from DX chasers, as well as SOTA chasers & spots on the DX cluster the day before had made things a little difficult, but thankfully on the second day proceedings were a little more civilized.
I was also able to hear the first EU to VP8 Summit to Summit between Carolyn DL/G6WRW/P & Robert. I was only 20 minutes walk away from the activation zone of G/SP-014 Longridge Fell, & if I hadn’t been informed that there were some armed bank robbers heading my way on a motorbike I may well have walked to the activation zone for the first G - VP8 S2S. Sadly, my loyalty to my trusty two-wheeled stallion got the better of me & I remained with my machine just in case the robbers did come my way.
After John GW4BVE mentioned that he could have videoed the S2S, I realized that I had a camera with me so I took some footage of what I could hear at my location. This video has been on my Youtube page for a few years so many of you will have seen it before:
Two very memorable SOTA DX chases for me
Thanks & best 73,
