Ward Hall WC0Y SK

I am sad to report that Ward Hall, WC0Y, the Association Manager for the SOTA W9 and W0I associations, passed away on January 13, 2025.

Ward’s obituary can be found here: https://www.northernindianafuneralcare.com/obituary/Ward-Hall#tributewall. As is clear from the obituary, Ward was a man of many interests and accomplishments.

Like most of us, Ward and I had a good deal more radio than eyeball QSOs. In July 2023, the tenth anniversary of the W9 association, he initiated an annual event to celebrate the association, and to encourage activity from the summits in all three W9 states. It would be hard to find a kinder person supportive of our hobby than Ward.

RIP my friend.

Very sorry to hear about Ward. He was a regular chaser since I started SOTA. My condolences to his family.

Sorry to read this sad news. I had contacted Ward many times during his SOTA activities until 2023… RIP.

Sorry to hear…I was on a summit yesterday and I thought I hadn’t heard from Ward for awhile. my condolences.

So sorry to hear this. Ward was my unofficial ‘Ohio Complete Buddy.’ Ward would often come over to Ohio to activate, and would often chase me when I would activate in Ohio. I always enjoyed getting Ward in the log on 40 Meters, knowing that Ward would get the complete.
