WA7JTM Regional Leader Jan 2017 ARRL VHF Contest

Pete/WA7JTM placed 4th overall and 1st in the West Coast Region in the Jan 2017 VHF contest. From the summit of W7A/MN-144 (Scarlet Mtn -DM33), Pete was able "to take advantage of the Summits on the Air (SOTA) program and the abundance of enthusiastic SOTA chasers in Arizona to finish 4th place nationwide in the category", according to the July 2017 QST article by Jim Duffey, KK6MC.

Pete, thanks for your SOTA efforts and bringing attention to the SOTA program during the January VHF contest.

Awesome, Pete! That really goes a long way to promote the SOTA program.

Thanks guys. I just love multitaskingā€¦I get to go four wheeling, take a hike, do a SOTA activation, and enter a VHF contest all at the same time. I have not found a summit with a river on it so I can also go Fly Fishingā€¦but I am working on it!

tnx

Nice job, Pete WA7JTM.
I did a similar thing in Coloradoā€¦finished further down the list but still in the top ten.
It was also my first SOTA activation with Steve WG0ATā€¦he was working mostly HF.
