Congrats to Tommy, W7RV, for just going over 20,000 points as a Super Shack Sloth and proving that sleep is overrated. He may have done it in record time also…Thanks for all of the contacts from the summits!
So 40K soon?

Congrats from me also Tommy. Hear your big signal everyday in the mix. All the best and happy hunting. de Scotty KG3W
In reply to KG3W:
I’m tired of hearing Tommy’s big signal working stations I can’t even hear.
Congrats Tommy! I know I can speak for all the PHX activators and say Thanks for all the help spotting us.

In reply to K7JFD:
You got that right Jim…I’ve experienced it numerous times myself when I was in PHX. Now that I’m in Colorado, I hear the other side of his signal…holy cow hes loud!
Congrats Tommy! Get out go activate a peak!!!

Congrats!!! With that big signal of yours 20,000 points were accumulated quite quickly. Always good to hear you working the activators! Especially the ones I can’t hear (at least I know their out there operating)!!
Happy hunting for 30,000!

Yes thanks Tommy - always good to hear you on the hills, usually the first one! I tuned up on W7N/WC-010 last week and heard di-di-dah-dah-di-dit W7RV before I even got started!! I literally laughed out loud!! Nice job!!!
Hey Tommy, you are a SOTA animal (er, Super Shack Sloth)! Really appreciate getting your call in my log on numerous activations. Thanks for your diligence and hard work OM.

Congrats, Tommy. Your signal is always pounding into the PNW. If you come on when I have the gain cranked up to hear a weak one, you just about do my ears in. Keep up the good work!

TKS To: Pete and also to Scotty, Jim, Dave, Matt, Chuck, Rick, Mike and Phil, and to NE4TN Walt and KY7S Mike for on- the air comments.
I appreciate all the nice comments, guys. 6 months ago when I hit 10K, if you would have told me I would get to the 20K Club, I would have said you were crazy. SOTA activity is rising exponentially!
I don’t know where the “big signal” stuff comes from, as I am not a “big gun”, just a “little pistol”. All my SOTA contacts were done barefoot only, with modest antennas: small tribander (CL33) and single element wires configures as slopers on a small city lot. Strictly small potatoes here.
Where to go from here? When the WX cools off in Arizona, I’ll do some goat work and pay you guys backs. Thanks for all the points from you Goats.

Wow! That is amazing and I agree with everyone else on how consistently strong your signal is. If I didn’t know better, I would swear you were living inside my transceiver.
Congrats on hitting 20K and thanks for all the contacts. I look forward to a chance of working you on a summit. That is kind of my own form of a SOTA complete that I like to get in the log. I call it Chasing the Chasers.

Congrats Tommy on becoming a super shack sloth.
Yes you do have one of the loudest chaser signals.
Keep it going OM and thanks for all the chases.
Dennis
Thanks Tommy!
I remember the first time you chased me—I was with W4TZM Tommy doing a joint activation. As the letters of your name came in I remember W4TZM smiling and saying, "here’s another Tommy."
Hats off to a great chaser with a strong signal! Well Done.
PETE WH6LE
Well done Tommy. Thanks for the many Qs with your strong AZ signal, often one of the first in the log. Congratulations on achieving 2xSSS.

So what do we call “Supersloths” that score 30K, 40K, 50K and well beyond? Do we have a naming convention yet for these levels? (OK…be nice…“Psycho SuperSloth” is not an option)
Super Duper Shack Sloth? Super Super Duper Shack Sloth?
I see that a Supersloth can order a Chaser certificate for up to 100K points from SOTA now. Maybe we could just add endorsement stickers for each level like we do for s2s contacts…?

Impressive indeed. I checked my log and found that I have worked Tommy on 6 occasions from VK1 and VK2 summits - all on 12m. When I was looking for US 12m contacts, it almost got to the point of having an entry pre filled out in the log in anticipation of the contact with Tommy! I think the secret lies in the time you spend in the shack - you must have a bed and kitchen installed in it…

At 100k you graduate to a “Hypersloth”! If anybody ever reaches the million they will naturally be a “Megasloth”. It might happen - when SOTA started up 1000 points was a difficult target, it took years to achieve. Now the activity level is such that some people can do it in a couple of months or less, there are days when even on phone without CW you could earn the 100 points certificate in a weekend or even a day, and the supersloth is now the achievement level that the shack sloth used to be.
An easier way than having a lot of new names would be numbers. Shack Sloth is SS, Shack Super Sloth could be SSS, and 10-20k could be SSS1, 20-30k SSS2 and so on. Not exactly glamorous but easy to remember. Nah! Forget it!
Brian G8ADD
Shack Sloth is still a worthwhile target and achievement for most people. Just because there are some full-time “professional” chasers with fantastic stations doesn’t mean that the whole perception of the chaser awards should be distorted for the majority.
So I agree Brian - nah, forget it!
