W1AW/7 SOTA Acticvation

All,

While it’s still tentative pending approval of the time slot from the Local W1AW Coordinator, I’m planning on activating W7A/MN-142, Deems Hills as W1AW/7 on 31 Aug between 1500-1700ut. It’ll be 20m SSB, possibly 2m FM.

It’s a 2 pointer, but I’ve hiked here often (and was first to activate this summit), so I know there will be no unforeseen issues getting there. The goal is to get W1AW on the air from a SOTA peak.

Once I have the time slot approved I’ll advise again on this group and the NA SOTA Yahoo group.

Todd KH2TJ and I tried to do this back in April when W1AW/7 was in NV, but he was told that there were too many constraints on using the callsign:

Pete not sure, it seems at least one has tried, as indicated in the next post. I just got the Time slot approved by the AZ W1AW/7 coordinator, So barring bad weather, I’ll be up there.
