Mike
thanks for the contact, I think your signal was increasing steadily and half an hour later would have been a much easier contact. I worked Barry on CW later and his “audio” seemed very loud and clear then!
I made 28 contacts including several VKs but almost all were EU SSB contacts. I was using the linked dipole at 7m, not as good as the vertical IMHO. Will use vertical next time. Better dx antenna. But no 40m option (yet - I have a plan to add a link and make it an L on 40m, with extra radials). My power was 10w from the IC703, still a good option but I think your extra power does help… especially on ssb parts of the bands.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the carrot this evening. LP opening now peaks when I’m having my evening meal. Prior to drying the dishes one of my chores is to put out the rubbish. I took the opportunity to slip into the shack and there you were. A bit of QSB and of course the ever present electrical noise but you were getting through.
The 20m band was in good shape with big signals from Europe. You were 5/7 peaking 5/9. There were countless static crashes though. Thanks for slipping into the shack to make the contact, much appreciated.
Hi Roger,
Thanks for the info and pic. I see you have an electrical connection - so much nicer than the acoustic coupling I have been trying. I have an old MP3 player with a USB connector that I maybe can mate with an analog to USB dongle I have somewhere so maybe …
