Video: OE5JFE on Brennkogel OE/KT-015, 3018m

Hello everyone,

This is the first out of three videos covering my recent 3000+ m activations near the Großglocker Hochalpenstrasse (high alpine road).
Together with Alex the plan was to activate Brennkogel OE/KT-015 (3018m), Fuscher-Kar-Kopf OE/KT-004 (3331m) and Spielmann OE/KT-287 (3027m).

After 3,5 h drive from my home QTH Linz we begun the first hike at the Hochtor - the highest tunnel of this road - at about 2500m. Walking a section of the Klagenfurter Jubiäumsweg (a alpine ridgeline hike that includes several 3000m peaks) and finally reaching the summit Brennkogel OE/KT-015 after 2h made it a great start.
We both felt the reduced oxygen levels but managed the 800 m accumulated ascent without problems. Increadible weather conditions allows views all around and especially to the Großglocker - the highest summit in OE.

2 QSO on 2m FM and 19 on 20 m SSB made it a success. Thanks to all chasers coming back to my calls.
Spotting was easy using my SMS gateway.

Wow Joe they’re some vistas there, looks dangerous/risky getting up to the summits but what a view so it’s got to be worth it.

This time is not difficult with such nice wx conditions. With some snow in early summer it could become a bit more interesting.

Perfect timing because it was snowing just recently up there. Autumn is approaching OE land and snowline go down evenb below 2500 m during the last 3 days.
