Hi Walker,I heard you and called but failed in the qrm that came up from Statesisde, also heard the 2x2 reports from both sides.
Perhaps next time conditions will improve.73 All.Don G0RQL.
In reply to G0RQL:
Thanks Don for the effort. It was a brisk -10°C ground temperature and an air temp of around -17°C when we started but fortunately we were in a sunny spot for operation. Since local time was close to midday I am surprised you heard us. I hope things are drying out, the snow pack has been relatively light this year so hopefully we won’t get the return of last years floods.

In reply to VA6MCB:
I made an error transcribing my log, VE2IF should have been EA2IF Jose-Antonio Gurutzarri Jauregi, from Spain, a distance of 7777k on 5 watts! Wow!

Lots of QRM on the East Coast!
Hi Walker,
That was me at 1852Z and I also wkd VA6FLY at 1853Z. I guess on paper the “V” looked like a “Y” when you transcribed it. You said it correctly over the air.
Looks like a visit to my Aunt in Kitimat VE7 is in order. Her late husband was a big shot at Alcan Calgary before moving to Kitimat. [This is probably one of my great ideas that will never come to fruition ]
In reply to G1INK:
I would wait a few weeks/months before visiting…
It’s -29°C in Canmore this morning and although Kitimat is 10°C warmer… -18°C is still “Cool” by Scottish standards.
Another obscure fact is that VE6 land does not conform to SOTA regulated winter. We still manage to keep our snow in the hills until May and the higher peaks until August despite the ARM stating winter bonuses end in March. I guess all that white stuff is just Scotch mist…
