I’ve not been on the radio for about 10 years for various reasons, but I participated in activating and chasing in the past. I’m hoping to get out soon and do an activation and use the new call sign for the first time. Only able to use VHF handheld at the moment until I save up for an HF radio. Fortunately I’ve still got my antenna and pole.
Looking forward to getting back out on the hills and making some contacts.
It is almost as bad as changing an email address. I recently had an email saying thanks fir a contact made in the Trans-Atlantic S2S event and the header showed it had been forwarded to my G4OIG email address. I sussed out that the sender had emailed my G8CXK email address (currently inactive due to my new provider limiting the number of email addresses), then read the thread, put two and two together and forwarded the original to my G4OIG address. I’ve now amended the email on my G8CXK QRZ.com page. All in all, a change of callsign has the potential to affect many things.
… That was Roberts’ men, that was, and comed of changing names to their
ships — ROYAL FORTUNE and so on. Now, what a ship was christened, so let her
stay, I says. So it was with the CASSANDRA, as brought us all safe home from
Malabar, after England took the viceroy of the Indies; so it was with the old
WALRUS, Flint’s old ship, as I’ve seen amuck with the red blood and fit to sink with
gold…
Regardless, I’ve changed my callsign three times in my ham lifetime!
I really should get things changed on the MT reflector but I think I should make a list of what needs to be done: call, MT members description, SMS FAQ and …
I keep thinking I should invest in a low or mid band QMX but then I look at all the radios and think justifying to me is hard work so I’ll buy one next month.
I’m trying to think which summit Fraser is on, I’m sure I’ve done it but its name/ref just isn’t jumping into my mind.
