Two Adelaide Summits

What with Paul VK5PAS organising a Sunday symposium with the Welcome To Amateur Radio Day I decided to do these two summits near Adelaide for the first time . I left home at 6 am to drive to se-016 and It took me right across Adelaide city with about 1 hour of country road driving from the north then another hour south once I got out of the rat race. It was an easy summit to get to it has a road right past the trig which is just inside the farmers fence. It was a bit different to activate with a sea breeze and no flies and I could see Kangaroo Island across the water. I drove in rain most of the way but it fined up for the activation then it rained again on the way to Mount Lofty se-005 for my next activation. Mount Lofty is a very popular spot so its not a case of sticking up the squid pole at the trig so I rang Paul and asked him where he had set up when activating there. I found a spot just south of the trig and main fire spotting tower with enough room to set up the 58 footer to 7m on my squidy and made only about 6 qso’s before all hell broke loose with lightning flashes and thunder. So I quickly packed up to beat the down pore and retired to the restaurant for a very nice beef stew and the best German apple and cinnamon cheese cake I ever had. luxury! Sorry to the chasers I left hanging my kx3 in not very water proof. I will be giving the SOTA talk at the symposium Sunday so everyone will be full of knowledge by the days end.
