You do become attuned to hearing dah-di-di-dah-dit di-dah-dah-dit amongst the melee.
In earlier years, in my memory until about 2016, this would have been considered bad style (DX Code of Conduct) and it was therefore quite natural to compete with the “pure” SOTA chasers.
I don’t quite understand the hype and the shouting about preferential treatment that has been going on for several years about the s2s QSOs from the activators.
That’s why I immediately QSY these days when some SOTA colleagues fire off whole salvos of /p, true to the motto, to each his own and to me mine, hi.
BTW, To avoid misunderstanding, I also use the suffix /p in all portable radio activities (even if it is no longer mandatory)
