TK5EP/P TK/TK-008 Monte Renosu

Hi all,

I activated TK/TK-008 last sunday, the weather forecast were good with no rain before 17:00 local time. It was very overcast and rainy the last days.

I started from the pass “Col de Vizzavona” which is not the closest posible departure, but i also wanted to make a nice trek.

I encountered the first difficulties when I had to find my way and cross the ridge called “Pinzi Corbini”. There is a narrow passage the requires a bit of climbing.
Following the first part of the ridge was not easier, and i was asking myself if i could retrace my steps on my way back… It was very steep with narrow passages and poorly spotted. Only a few cairns here and there.
The ascent is always easier than the descent !

Once on the ridge, there were no more difficulties to the 2352m high summit which was about 2 hours later, after a total walk of 4 hours and about 1200m altitude gain & 7.5 km.

Close to the summit, there is a small solar panel powered mountain rescue repeater that i used to fix my fishing pole and the EFHW.
I didn’t notice any QRM from that instalaltion. I was a litle scared about the power regulator that could generate some noise.

Shortly after starting to work some stations, the first clouds appeared on a nearby summit, and i had to shorten my activity. There were still 4 hours of walk and i was concerned about the difficult passage

I finally made 33 QSO and 6 S2S contacts, mostly on 40m and all in CW.

I took a quick meal and left quickly. After an hour, the surrounding peaks were covered by clouds and the summit i left completely dark !

I could find my way back and cross the difficult paths safely. But it was a bit nerv wracking…
The path looked much steeper than during the ascent. If you are prone to vertigo, this hike should be avoided !!

Shortly after, the clouds were there and it started to rain until i reached the car, almost 2 hours later. The forecast were wrong (again) !

All in all, a nice trek and activation, but retrospectively it was not very safe to make it alone… :upside_down_face:

8 hours walking for 8 points.
Thanks to all stations i’ve worked and see you on the next summit !
