Hi All.
Last week, I activated a summit in County Mayo in the west of Ireland: - Tievereivagh, EI/IW-075. When I got to the highest point, the official SOTA database latitude/longitude coordinates 53.89476, -9.96304 were for a location about 50metres away and down about 10metres on the ‘real summit’ of the hill. Even on SOTAmaps, the summit pin is displayed slightly from the actual highest-point summit.
I wonder if there is there a way to request a review and if necessary a correction of a summit’s given SOTA lat/long coordinates?
There is a stone cairn at what I believe to be the real summit of Tieveivagh at lat/long 53.89558, -9.96255
I wish the next activator better weather than I had. I got a good soaking hiking to and from my summit activation
But you appear to be correct. Clicking on OpenTopoMap and sotl.as from the summit page show the summit in what seems to be the wrong place. The lat/long match those on https://www.themountainguide.co.uk/ but not other sites.
