Ten Point Peak Activations StartTomorrw...WA7JTM

Just a reminder that I will be activating multiple 10 point summits in Eastern Arizona starting tomorrow. The goal is to activate at least ten summits in three days, all worth 10 points each. Some peaks I can drive to so that will make it easier than it looks on paper. Most of these peaks are clumped within a few miles of each other. I will try and activate the peaks in the following order…

June 4th, Tuesday, Activations planned: (all W7A/…listed in order more or less; starting at 1900-2000 UTC)
AP-037, AP-033, AE-022, (AP-005 possibly late afternoon)

June 5th Activations planned: starting at 1400 UTC
AP-003, AE-009, AP-006, AP-014, AE-026

June 6th Activations planned: starting at 1400 UTC
AP-007, AP-010, AP-015, GR-002

We will see how many I can complete. This could even spill over into Friday morning.

Bands/Freqs: I will always start out on 14.062-cw (so I can get spotted). When that slows down I will go to 14.342-ssb. Other bands possible after that (21.062, 28.062, 10.113, 7.062, 50.125-ssb/cw). I will operate each peak fairly rapidly…1 hr or apx 30 QSO’s max per peak, and then move on.

Spots: RBN only, No phone, so I will relay the peak designators on each mtn. Please spot me! TNX…

I hope that this effort all works out and the band conditions will allow me to work as many stations as possible. Don’t rule out 6m…HUGE opening here all day yesterday. I could have worked a hundred stations on QRP yesterday.

tnx
c u on a ten pointer!

6 meters and 10 meters has had a pipeline to AZ the past two days from Idaho. Hope it stays that way the rest of the week. Good Luck Pete!

In reply to KG7E:

I hope that happens also! Six and 10m E skip would be a big help if the solar activity is down/disturbed this week, and the low bands are dead.

c u from the hills…maybe on 6 or 10!

Are you avoiding 12m for any specific reason? Especially as the 12m Challenge has now started.

In reply to MM0FMF:

Andy,

No real reason. I do work the band at home.

But for now the “So many peaks, so many bands, so little time” comes into play. Hoping to work some 6m on this trip (now that is a challenge!). I am actually going up to this area to operate the June VHF contest next weekend, and decided to play SOTA before the contest. Setting up 6/2/432 from 9300 ft on the shoulder of one of the summits I will be activating. Big antennas and amps…all off the grid. The SOTA activations (OK…and the Fly Fishing) are a bonus features of the VHF contest operation.

Maybe next time.

C U on 20 CW??

tnx

All understood. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the challenge event.

Always got ears for W7 stations on my GM activations.
