Summits near Friedrichshafen

I plan to attend the Ham Convention this year. I am not familiar with the geography there, are there any nearby SOTA summits?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Mike,

I activated following 3 hills after HAM Convention 2013:
http://sotawatch.org/summits.php?summit=DM/BW-348
http://sotawatch.org/summits.php?summit=DM/BW-349
http://sotawatch.org/summits.php?summit=DM/BW-350

All of them are drive-in hills.

OE/VB-512 Pfaender is at Bregenz which can be reached by train or better, by taking a cruise on the Lake. From the train station/harbour it is 10mins walk to the cable car station and then a few minutes to the summit. 10mins gently walking and you can be on the air by the bar.

How far “near” is depends on whether you will have a car or not. Click the mapping link at the top of all the main SOTA pages. Select DM - Germany (low mountains) from the association drop down. The map shows the areas covered by each DM region. Select DM/DW region and 153 summits are shown.

I am living near Aacheck. There are more summits not to far like
DM/BW-484 Bussen or even Pfaender OE/VB-512.
At DM/BW-362 Sipplinger Berg you can drive to the very spot.
I will be busy at ARRL’s DXCC desk on Friday, Saturday und Sunday.
CU there ?

Dominik,

Thanks for the information. These look to be very easy summits to do in a day. I will try these if possible.

Andy,

Thanks. I think you meant the BW region. That is the help I was looking for. I didn’t know which region would cover Friedrichshafen…

I’ll also be there again this year, so will probably look to do a SOTA activation at the same time.

Perhaps we could have an international “SOTA convention” on top of one of the summits in the area?
