Strong winds and surprise at summit Zeitschenberg OE/OO-397

Hello everyone,

Todays hike to Zeitschenberg was choosen as wx conditions were not very predictable. Strong winds and more or less no sunshine expected.
To our surprise the sun actually was out but the wind was tough.

Making our way about 500 m ascent in snowshoes to the ridge and to the summit of OE/OO-397.
There a big tree that had the perfect spot to block the wind end embrace us in the “arms”. And the pocket was facing the sun that stayed during the full activation time.
A big pile-up with 4 S2S to greece, short skips to HB9 and a DX to FY5KE in French Guiana wer the cherries on top.

Here some pictures:

Hi Joe,

we had a dismal, cloudy day in Saalbach up on our first summit, OE/SB-192 (no photos) but had the same splendid QSO

Joe, I am pleased to see your weather forecasters get it as wrong as ours!

Great to see that you had an enjoyable day and some excellent results on the radio. Super photos. :grinning:

Lucky you. I’ve had a cold this weekend, so I caught up on some schoolwork. Hopefully next weekend will be better.
