As a newcomer to SOTA I was wondering if anyone has any tips for preventing spectacles (eye glasses) misting up? I was in cloud yesterday and suffered the dreaded misting of the specs. the whole time. I resist wiping them with my fingers etc as it usually makes things worse.
Hi Richard, I have no experience of the product myself but a work colleague who is a keen road cyclist swears by a product designed specifically for motorcyclists, which would be far more suitable for you than a car product.
I can’t remember the name at the moment but I will reply later with the specific product if nobody beats me to it.

Hi Richard, sadly I don’t have good news for you. I wore glasses for distance correction for 20 years and tried all sorts of ways to overcome this issue with only limited success.
In the end I had LASIK corrective surgery about 12 years ago which provided the solution. A bit radical I know.
The motorcycle anti fog stuff for visors works OK, but only stops misting from breathing. It won’t help if you are in thick cloud and that is settling on the lenses.
The trouble with corrective surgery is that your eyesight changes with time so that the correction becomes less effective - then there are the well-known problems of advancing years so eventually you have to put on specs to read maps etc.
The best solution to the fogging problem is to have two pairs of specs, keep one pair warm in an inside pocket, and change them over when necessary. The warm pair won’t fog until they have cooled down to the dewpoint.

Hmmm, the two pairs of glasses idea sounds good.
Regrettably, I’ve worn specs since I was four, one learns some tricks! My focal correction only changes slowly but the astigmatic correction has changed more rapidly in recent years.
