Spartleton GM/SS-182

Last Saturday I went up Spartleton GM/SS-182 in East Lothian.

A friends son is interested in radio and came with me up the hill to see SOTA in action.

We agreed to meet at the parking area that is part of the Herring road over the hills.

Sadly the parking area has now been fenced and padlocked off.

There was still space for me to park my bike near the cattle grid but it is worth bearing in mind if visiting this hill.

We had a good run of Qso’s despite 40m not playing and some local chasers I briefed beforehand chatted with my young assistant.

He’s keen so I pointed him at Foundation training resources. We’ll probably go out again next time I’m out that direction.

The coffee sponge at the Lanterne Rouge cafe in Gifford on the way home was fab as well.

Sounds like a good day out! Look forward to hearing them on the air

Was good to catch you both.

My visit last year, there were 3 or 4 camper vans parked up by the time I came away, complete with open fires , I suspect that such action may have helped tip the balance.
