In reply to OE5RTP:
So many regions in 17 days? crazy, how are you on route? I think you don’t see the inherent natural beauty in such short time, especially if you do lot of SOTA-activations. Enjoy the scenery. We where x-times in spain (with SOTA-activations) and every time we saw other nice places and interesting regions…Rioja, Navarra, La Mancha with windmills, Grananda and so on. Last time in June14 hihi.
73 and gl, Peter/HB9CMI
On Saturday on the trip we had to cancel one italian summit because of heavy rain and on Sunday we had to cancel the second France summit because it was very late. So we came quickly through the spain border and did our first EA3 summit in the evening.
Actually we are in EA3 at the beach of Vilanova. In the afternoon we will do a activation if our baby has enough from playing with stones and sand.
Tomorrow we will just relax, but on Thuresday is our next SOTA activation.
Sunny greetings,
73 de OE5RTP Peter, OE5IRO Inge and our Baby Bernhard
Let me know which will be the references in EA4. If you need any kind
of help and I am available not hesitate to contact me.
Around 6th Aug we will go to EA4/GU-049, that seems to be a easy summit we can do with our Baby. This Location fits in our way from CT to Andorra. Do you know that summit or another on that way?
Can you tell me the exact route from CT? Depending on the route of
entry there are several options, mainly in EA4/TO land.
We come back from CT, stay one night on Salamanca and stay the next night in Zaragoza. On the way between these Locations should be a stop combined with a SOTA activation.
We prefere a summit which Point also for WCA (COTA) if there is one, otherwise we take EA4/GU-049 or if there are local Problems, EA4/GU-046 or EA4/GU-047.
There is one day time for the trip from Salamance to Zaragoza, so we have enough time for looking around. If you can recommend any SOTA-COTA combined Summit in EA4, we are also ready Change our route.
Ok thanks for the info of your tour. I had thought EA4/TO-006. That top is not WCA.
Although very close to a castle … but You would spend a lot of time doing SOTA and WCA. Also if you are coming from Salamanca are too many kilometers to reach ea4/to-006. The only good thing is that the ascent to the top is very simple and can be done by car to the top, of course respecting the rules SOTA!
I don´t know of a summith in EA4/GU that match what you are also looking.
I think I have not been much help. Anyway good trip and drive safe!
Can I recommend EA4/GU-048 Hita, instead of EA4/GU-049 La Muela de Alarilla?
Hita is pretty close to La Muela, but is quite a different place.
You can get to La Muela summit even by car, access is very easy, but if wind is OK will be surely surrounded by paragliders and Delta wings…this place is kind of a “sanctuary” for these activities.
On the other hand Hita, is a bit steep to get to the summit, it will take you about 35 minutes to get there. At the summit there is also a Geodetical Point (Vertice Geodesico) we activated last spring.
The city has also 3 WCA references:
WCA Ref: EA-02460
WCA Ref: EA-02496
WCA Ref: EA-02497
Is a beautiful medieval place, so IMHO is worth to visit.
I am located pretty close to Madrid, and these days I am on summer holidays, so if you wish we can arrange a meeting in Hita (Aprox. 90 minutes from home).
Anyway have a nice trip from Salamanca to Zaragoza !!!
Ok thanks for the info of your tour. I had thought EA4/TO-006. That
top is not WCA.
Although very close to a castle … but You would spend a lot of time
I could not find any WCA/COTA listed Castle within 1km disdance to the summit, do you?
I am not following WCA award, but it seems like EA-02460 are the archeological remains of Hita Castle surrounding Hita Summit. You can see what I mean here:
If so, this WCA reference is in the very same place of Hita EA4/GU-048, in the linked photos you can see the summit, the remaining castle walls and even the Geodetical Point located on one of the remaining castle wall. Everything in the same place.
Thank you for the information. We will think about, it depends on the time we have there, because a WCA/COTA activation takes about 2-3 hours (minimum 50 qso´s).
So, if there is time enough we will do “Hita” instead of “La Muela”, or maybe both?!
TODAY at late afternoon we will do COTA/WCA on ALHAMBRA near Granada.
That is no SOTA summit, but a very famous and popular castle.
We will print a SPECIAL QSL CARD for that activation which we send on request.
So we will be happy for any contact, because we need minimum 50 qso´s for COTA.
So please listen today late afternoon / evening for our COTA activation, even if it is no SOTA. We will use the COTA qrg´s 14.251-ssb and 7.131-ssb, but also the well known SOTA qrg, if it is free 14.285-ssb.
Today we completed EA7 activation and we arrived in CT.
Thank you, it is no Problem. We wanted to make ONE COTA activation in EA and we did the Alhambra yesterday successfully. So it is not neccessary to do another COTA in EA.
But we are still searching for a CT COTA and SOTA summit … at this time without any result. Tomorrow we will activate several CT summits, but there is no COTA to the next (1km). Maybe we find one for Wednesday. We want to do ONE COTA activation in CT.
Has anybody a Suggestion for COTA on a SOTA summit in middle CT ?
If there is no such combination, we have to try a easy Castle for COTA alone.
