SOTA Sherpa Award

The SOTA MT has pleasure to announce the award of a special certificate namely the Sherpa Award to Guy N7UN in recognition of his contribution to the SOTA programme in 2013. There were several candidates considered by the MT for this award as there have been so many who have made a significant contribution to SOTA in 2013 and we really recognise those contributions. However after much debate amongst the MT, we came to the conclusion that Guy N7UN was the leading candidate amongst a very strong field.

This award is sponsored by SOTABEAMS (http://www.sotabeams.co.uk/) and comes with a credit of £50 in the SOTABEAMS online shop. Please join us in congratulating Guy on the award and recognizing his contribution to SOTA. The certificate designed by Barry GM4TOE will be sent to Guy following this announcement.

Having worked with Guy during the very early stages of SOTA North America, I can say that this award could not have gone to a nicer and more deserving person.

Congratulations Guy!

Not knowing who else was in the race, I know for sure that Guy was extremely busy setting up Associations here in NA. Well deserved and congratulations from Colorado.

Wow! Thanks to the SOTA MT for this award and the recognition for a lot of hard work the past few years in getting the SOTA program off and running in the States. Thanks to Les/G3VQO in 2009 for the encouragement as W7 was certainly a challenge, now with over 17000 summits. But those acquired skills (and the readily available peak data from John Kirk of listsofjohn.com!) made it easier to help other AM’s to pull together the ARM docs and database information for their Associations.

And there were many other folks who provided a lot of effort and contributed to make SOTA successful in many unheralded ways. My thanks to them for their supporting efforts!

SOTA is one of those rare radiosports that combines outdoor, mountain-topping efforts with ham radio and makes the whole effort fun! Activators and Chasers each play important roles but the ham spirit of friendship and community is the icing on the cake!

My thanks again. Guy/N7UN

In reply to N7UN:

Congratulations Guy - well deserved by all accounts. There should be an email in your inbox with details of how to claim your reward.
