I’ve just spoken with Alan M1EYO on the phone. He has been very ill but the good news is he’s now doing much better. Alan was the first G Association Manager and the first ever Mountain Goat.
He asked me to pass his best regards on to all his old friends in SOTA.
His photo sometimes pops up on the Database initial page stood alongside me on Shining Tor G/SP-004. It’s a slightly embarrassing one for me as it was right back in the early days and I’m stood there in totally unsuitable clothes for the hills. Alan, of course, is wearing all the proper gear. I learned a great deal from Alan in those early days.
He gets his outdoor fix with a specialised kind of upland freshwater stream fishing these days!
