The booth picture of two activators holding up a SOTA flag shows DF3MC & K6EL on top of W6/CC-075, the high point on an island in San Francisco Bay, on August 21, 2012. It was taken by Martin’s beautiful friend Gabriele, who strode up 800 vertical feet as if it were flat. Oh, to be young again.
Thanks to Marcel DM3FAM and Roman DL3TU for organising this from the start and to everyone who volunteered to help out Friday and Saturday and those who will be there tomorrow. I’ll be activating in DM tomorrow with Paul in DM/BW somewhere. We have one more summit in HB9 for Monday and an F/AB summit for Monday evening when we get back to Geneva.
I met so many people and was able to put voices to those only worked on CW and faces to many. It was a delight to meet every and chat either briefly or for longer periods.
One person who I was delighted to meet was Paul HB9DST. Paul is suffering from eyesight loss and I didn’t think I’d meet him again as travel and rallies would not be high on his agenda. Well it’s going to take more than eyesight problems to stop Paul activating or attending this rally.
A huge thanks to everyone I met and all have a safe trip home.
Sylvia (@OE5YYN) organized a series of SOTA talks including a fascinating introduction to SOTAMat (auto spotting via FT8) and Andy gave a talk on the updated SOTA databases which included significant work by Andrew (@VK3ARR). About 70 attendee.
Hello everyone. I’ll be travelling around here for a few more days. We will report back in detail afterwards.
Also on behalf of Roman @DL3TU, many thanks in advance to everyone for the successful success of the stand. Only together can something like this become a beautiful and good thing!
Shortly before the end of the fair, the competition was closed and the winners drawn.
A detailed report in the coming days. Come home safely, thank you for your visit to the stand and a huge thank you to all the helpers and supporters!!! Without you, this stand would not have existed!
Dear Marcel, thank you very much for the notice about the nice price I won, but even more a big THANK YOU to you and all the others who were involved in the preparation work and in making the SOTA BW booth a highlight of this year’s HAM RADIO. You have definitely set a standard and raised the bar for any future events. 73 de Peter, DM7KN
Sorry for appearing to be ungrateful and not saying thank you ! But have only just got back from HAM Radio in Friedrichshafen having spent an extra night before returning home…
Wow what an incredible surprise – never ever expected to win anything in this lottery draw. Real shame as I was only a few meters away on the ÖVSV stand whilst it all happened…
It was my first visit of Ham Radio Fair and I am lucky that it was also first SOTA booth there.
Marcel @DM3FAM and Roman @DL3TU - many thanks for your big work.
I am happy to meet a lot of new for me SOTA people and of course old friends as well
It was very good time
I just returned safely from my HAM RADIO trip. No, the delay was not caused by me walking back home. I seized the opportunity to collect some activator and S2S points after the fair.
This is to inform you that I found the parcel with my raffle prize (the Palm Pico Paddle) and the „information material“ enclosed.
Once again, a big THANK YOU to you and all the others who were involved in preparing and staffing the SOTA BW booth before and during the event. It was also a good idea to have the booth as a meeting point for SOTA activators and chasers. I now have a few more faces to callsigns and enjoyed meeting some folks in person.
All in all a full success which would not have been possible without you.
