Seeking EU/UK 22nd May 0530-0630

Activating VK3/VT-006 Mt St Phillack tomorrow around 0530 to 0630 or thereabouts on 20m. I’m not sure if there will be any propagation back to EU at that time, or if many will be awake, but if any wish to make contact, there is a shiny 10 points on offer. It is also in VKFF-020 Baw Baw National Park.

Cheers,
Andrew

Oooooooh, that’s tempting, Andrew! Best I can offer is G/SP-013 Gun…

That’s not a very good swap Micky but one better than I can offer.
Hopefully conditions will be good enough to work you Andrew. 73 Don G0RQL.

I’ll take anything if it’s available  (although if anyone offers GW/SW-033 Wentwood for the trifecta of summit to summit, qualifying GW and a SOTA complete, I will personally shave a QSL card on the side of a kangaroo, sedate it and mail it over in thanks)*

Good luck with propagation and I hope we can work.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hello Andrew,
Will listen out for you via LP.
I think your timing may be a bit early for EU but you never know.
Anyway good luck tomorrow.

Best wishes

Looks like I may nave been a little previous offering G/SP-013, Guys!

Now Looking like a non-runner for me. Just looking at the forecast, heavy rain at 0600z in my part of the world, with thunder and lightening to follow. :frowning:

I’ll do my best though, maybe even a quick smash and grab.

A very short activation for me due to rain, but managed 10 contacts on 20m over 13 minutes, including the ever reliable Don (who hasn’t missed a summit I’ve sent UK way) and Colin G4UXH. I had to QSY due to some guy splattering 6kHz worth of distortion from 14338, but people found me. I thought I heard a few others very low down, but I couldn’t pull anyone else out, so if you were calling, my apologies. SMS notifications from me were intermittent, which didn’t help either, so thanks for those who spotted me on the new frequency.

Highlight of the day was working John M0XIG operating as GB1ST from Plymouth, Devon at 0236 UTC, from the first summit today that I wasn’t aiming for DX. His “Did I just hear a VK??” semi-incredulous response to my call was priceless

Cheers,
Andrew

Hello Andrew,

Glad the activation was a success.

Here I awoke about 0500Z to a thunderstorm which was forecast so all antennas had been unplugged the night before. The storm continued on and off for an hour or so… 8(

As I write there are now more rumbles and I can see lightning flashes across the valley opposite our house (which is on a small hill) so no radio again!

Best wishes

Hi Mike,

Charged the battery and packed the rucksack last night, for a quick getaway this morning.
My alarm went off at 0430 local. Took one look out of the window and decided to give it a miss. Shame poor Andrew was rained off too :frowning:
