Rememberance 14/11/2007

I know it’s a few days early but not able to get on internet as much now.
but i thought i should write a few poems to Shirley.
I hope no one take offence to me writing this on here, but she is sadly missed by SOTA OPERATORS

Well it’s been 12 months almost, 14/11/2007 since we lost our SOTA Sister,
SHIRLEY ANN SMITH, MW0YLS,

I attended the funeral with 2E0NHM and his family
And also attended by other SOTA members,

She has been missed by a few chasers who keep asking where is she ;-(
It’s hard to say, she’s no longer here.

What she suffered she told so few,
She did not deserve what she went through,
Tired and Weary, She made no fuss,
But tried so hard to stay with us.

She would not wish for sorrow,
She would not wish for tears,
But just to be remembered,
Throughout the coming years.

As she sleeps in heavenly peace,
Memories of Shirley we will always keep.

To us you were someone special,
A person set apart;
Your memory will live forever,
Engraved within our hearts,
Good night, God bless,

Shirley you may be gone,
But never forgotten.

Always in my thought,
REST IN PEACE,
Steve m0sgb.

Very thoughtfull Steve.

Also very appropriate that a picture of Shirley in her favourite environment appears frequently when we log into the SOTA Database.

Makes us think how fortunate we are and we should enjoy life to the fullest.

R.I.P. Shirley wherever you are.

Peter

In reply to ON3WAB:
Agree Peter and Steve.
I find the one of her quad and rucksack http://database.sota.org.uk/(S(jrauklegykdvg345bhkwsybn))/photos/homepa1.jpg
(will need to copy all of line above - reflector cuts end off)
Particularly poignant and appropriate.

In reply to M0SGB:

Thanks for that Steve, it is much appreciated as, along with many of our fraternity, I have many fond memories of Shirley not the least of which were the last YH weekend she attended with quite a large number of us die-hards.

In reply to G6DDQ:

Coming into SOTA relatively recently I was not fortune enough to speak to Shirley, but I see from the references made that she was a great friend to many and is sorely missed.

Perhaps Jon could make this set of posts sticky for a couple of weeks as a mark of respect.

In reply to G4OIG:

The same here Gerald, being relatively new to the sota family, I never had the good fortune to meet or have a natter with Shirley.
She must have been a lovely lady and is obviously greatly missed by those who shared her friendship.

I always smile when I switch the sotawatch2 page on and get greeted by the pictures of Shirley’s lovely smile.

I think it’s a good idea to make the thread sticky for the month in her memory, it would be a fitting tribute to her memory.

In reply to GW0DSP:
always in our thoughts; Shirley,
GOD BLESS
