Question: SOTA database vs SOTA map

After my recent activation of a new mountain I noticed that the activation appeares correctly on this page:

http://www.sotawatch.org/summits.php?summit=DM/BM-099

but it does not show up on sotamaps website. Is there a particular delay or a longer update period between the SOTA database and the SOTA Map?

There is a delay which is variable.

Stefan, the maximum delay is about 1/2 day…

Stefan, I said earlier that the maximum delay between posting an activation in the SOTA database and its’ appearance in the Mapping Project was a half a day.

Since making that comment, I’ve introduced a new check on the database dump CSV file being issued from the SOTA DB, and find that it is being updated only once daily. So, even though my script to read the CSV file runs twice every day, it only finds new data once per day.

The maximum delay before new data make their appearance in the Mapping Project is therefore on the order of one day.
