I extoll the virtues of new phones because it keeps me employed. As I don’t have enough folding stuff to retire yet, employment is a resident evil in my life.
I extoll the virtues of CW because it’s fun and so very effective when you have to carry all the radio gear on your own back.
I extoll the virtues of a comms standard from this century because the OP was unable to do what was suggested using the wattle & daub technology his current phone used. I’m unaware of a digital mode that is human decipherable that has a better Eb/NO than CW but I remain attentive to the possibility one exists and will definitely be from this century.
All possibly true, Andy, but it isn’t from this or even the last century! Not to worry, just a bit of fun, but I would be upgrading my phone, too, if I ever found signals reliably available on summits in the higher points bands.
Maybe you may wish to invest in an extra G. Then you’ll only be a single G
behind where it’s all at and be using a comms standard from this century.
Oh, my phone will play the 3G game where the signal allows, but since this double-E crowd and their extra G came along that seems to be in fewer places…
In the browser on my mobile phone on the wrong end of a 2G link,
probably not…
Cool! Sadly stands little chance on my mobile phone on the wrong end
of a 2G link, but bookmarked for use at home.

got a KX3 instead.)
Sorry, I hadn’t realised you were talking mobile phone access!
I’ve just purchased the SOTAGOAT App for IOS and I can honestly say that it’s simply quite brilliant. I’m sure filtering like you request is just around the corner. I shall be asking the developer if there’s any chance of implementing it.
The display of spots is clear and concise, unlike the SOTAWAtch page when displayed on a mobile phone. Spotting and alerting are similarly simple, especially with cold wet fingers.
Just a pity that on most summits it’s still rendered useless due to lack of GPRS, EDGE, 3G or HSPA signal and we have to forgo the vital spot information.
Highly recommended. (no commercial interest and other apps may be available)
