I was on vk1/ac-042 yesterday. Conditions around 0800 “today” (yesterday local time) were very odd, I heard auroral type flutter on all long path signals from EU and from NA. On 40m I was called by HA5MA and also a VA7 who apparently was hearing but not copying my call. Both signals had auroral flutter.
Then on 20m I worked F4WBN (of course) and DJ5AV (of course) with both signals having flutter. Then the propagation changed and it was like a switch going off, no more EU signals copyable and none were apparently hearing my calls.
The MM0 in ON on 14290 was barely detectable at 0800 but soon after the “switch” put paid to that, no sign of even the chasers.
