Unsurprisingly, many (most?) employers prefer staff who are organised, work hard, and focus on ‘getting the job done’; 24/7 if necessary.
In turn, this can lead to people who use task lists and Gantt charts for everything, require the same of their direct reports, and hold frequent progress review meetings, often at anti-social hours. Weekend ‘homework’ is a given. They also have strong PowerPoint skills.
Some try to ‘execute’ this same game-plan in their home life. Typically, this can lead to a whole range of ‘unintended consequences’
Social media often seems (is structured?) to encourage ‘knee jerk’ reactions. This ethos has many followers; a lot revel in it. To some extent, perhaps we’re all guilty?
Others know that considered and sombre reflection, rather than fast-paced ‘execution’, can often lead to better outcomes.
Navigating a path through all of this has never been easy …
Whatever hobbies you may have, you’re likely encounter a broad spectrum of all the above behaviours; untidy, ambiguous, often confusing …
Post-retirement, many manage to transition to a more relaxed existence. I know from experience it’s good have plenty of days when you walk out in the fresh air, drink tea/coffee, and do little else
Also, in the broadest sense, more listening rather than transmitting, together with a little tolerance, can go a long way …

Joe requested we submit activations from our own countries. Otherwise, I could have provided drive on or cable car access videos.
It’s a great video and Joe put a lot of time into getting it right.
Thanks! Great that there is momentum and ideas on what is missing.
We will get there next year. Hoping also for a reply from Brazil by next year to include a video. Because good material is available: https://www.youtube.com/@SOTABrasil
And of course feel free to use the video at other meetings/rallies to showcase SOTA
It’s a fantastic resource to show what is possible within the SOTA programme.
Bravo!
