OE/TI-356 – Gaishorn and OE/TI-360 – Rauhhorn

Hi everyone,

here is a brief report of my activation on October 3rd, 2023.


Gaishorn seen from Obere Rossalpe, Rauhhorn in the background.

Wx: Sunny, approx 20°C, light winds
Walking time: approx. 4 hours from Tannheim to the top of Gaishorn, 1 hour from Gaishorn to Rauhhorn and approx. 1 hour 40 minutes to Vilsalpsee.
Ascent/ descent: approx. 1400 vertical metres

Rig: Yaesu FT-3D @ 5 W
Ant: MFJ-1714 (endfed ½ wave telescopic vertical for 145 MHz)
6 QSOs on 2m FM; 1 x S2S on OE/TI-356
8 QSOs on 2m FM; 3 x S2S on OE/TI-360
Highlight: S2S-QSO across 190km to DM/BW-001

Yes, unfortunately I had to make concessions. Time was running and - at least on TI-360 - room was limited.
Even though I would have loved to greet a larger number of friends on the air I couldn’t squeeze in an activation on shortwave.

Hello Roman @DL3TU. Nice pictures, thanks for the report :+1: Also a quick and short SOTA activation only with handheld radio can be remembered - as you notice. Glad you had the minimum 4 QSOs together and also for the S2S QSOs you had. :muscle: :four_leaf_clover:
