I aim to please Mike. Your signal was really good for the power level you were running. A bit of thought about take off and antenna orientation goes a long way. My results from GM/SS-272 two years ago show that as I was able to sit on the NW slope of the hill and worked loads of DX. Unfortunately on this occasion the weather prevented me doing that.
First of all, I want to thank Ignacio, @EA2BD, for his excellent planning of this activation. From picking me up at my doorstep to pulling a tent out of his bag that provided us with shelter.
Ignacio’s extensive experience as an activator led him to select a summit with a sloping terrain towards North America. Along with the EFHW antenna he brought for 10m and 15m, this made a good number of QSOs with North America possible.
Thanks to everyone for their event writeups. It’s so much fun to share your adventures vicariously. I made it to Flint Peak, but too late for good EU propagation. Next time! 72, David N6AN
P.S. Despite being line of sight to Josephine Peak, where K6ARK etal were, I failed to work KD7DTS on his MG summit!
