New version of SOTAData enters extended Beta stage

It’s the production database, but you can generally delete anything you upload

Normally you will be able to delete anything. If you want try things you really are not sure about, then let me know in advance and I can either run an extra DB snapshot or be aware some cleanups are needed. We could create some test users for you to play with and then I can delete them when you are happy if you want.

I won’t be doing anything extreme, just uploading some fictitious QSOs, boosting my activator and chaser scores, and then deleting the entries so it all goes back to normal.

I do that all the time with no ill effects when testing the new version and the API.

Found it!
Looks good!

If I go to Menu>View Results>My Results>My Activator Log
Then click “Show All QSOs” Then click “Show Summary”, nothing happens.
On the other website is shows the listings of all my summits.

Should it work already? I am logged in (SSO) but after selecting a file - clicking the Upload CSV Button does nothing.
Win10, Firefox 64.0 , 64 bit

Uploaded now using the old sotadata

Hi Joe,
Yes it definitely works!

After pressing the upload CSV/TSV log file the follwing screen should appear:

If you’re not getting this it’s likely either your browser, your PC or your ISP has a corrupted copy of the page in it’s cache.

Try pressing CTRL (STRG) + F5 and then see what happens when you try again.

Also running Win 10, FF 64 bit v 64.0

I am getting that screen. I can also select a csv file (that is a v2 type) but then hitting the “Upload CSV” button does nothing.

csv file:

Hi Joe

Your log is showing in the database:

When you hit the “upload” button, I think it just quietly does the upload!

(unless you have managed to do it by other means)

Hi Adrian,

Because I uploaded now via the “old” sotadata site.
It is just if nothing happens when I hit the Upload CSV on the “newsotadata” site.

I was checking and it did not quietly upload. Overall that would be a non improvement to give no feedback to the user.

Hi Joe,
I’m following this through, step by step - after I press the browse button I get the file select panel:

Here’s my file layout:
image

select my file and I’m returned to the earlier page:

the upload takes place- with the round graphic:

And then the file is displayed:

and I press Submit, check the agree box and press submit again:

and The wheel graphic again …

and then …

So you see with the same OS, and browser - it works for me. I still think it may be a Cache problem somewhere?

Try changing date format to slashes, off the top of my head

Hi Ed,

Okay interesting. What you show is what I would have expected. I get the file exported from Log4OM and it worked fine so far.
Changing to slashes did not make any difference.
I have also tested another browser that I have never used for any SOTA stuff. Also does not work.

73 Joe

send me the CSV file and I’ll check it out. anryan at gmail

Hi,

I have tested now with slashes and the recommended date format. No success.

Email is on the way Andrew.

@vk3arr
A difference in the files;
Joe’s csv file has 8 or 9 fields (7 or 8 commas) where as Ed’s file has 10 fields in each line (9 commas).

Yes but the double comma after the call is not correct accourding to this guide.

EDIT: My bad. Ed posted a chaser log

The parser is never wrong

I think Peter’s found the problem. I need to look on a different system that I’m not at right now, but from my mental picture of the code, it seems right.

Hmmm … V2 allows multipe number of columns.

The new prefered Version 2 (V2) format consists of upto ten fields as follows

[V2] [My Callsign][My Summit] [Date] [Time] [Band] [Mode] [His Callsign]

or

[V2] [My Callsign][My Summit] [Date] [Time] [Band] [Mode] [His Callsign][His Summit]

or

[V2] [My Callsign][My Summit] [Date] [Time] [Band] [Mode] [His Callsign][His Summit] [Notes or Comments]

I just don’t have added any comments

Note the winky emoji. I’ll look at it and fix the problem. You can help test by trying with empty columns and seeing if it works
