My first DX from a Sota summit

Good Morning folks 0507 i was getting close to winding up my activation
on VK2/SC-045 I decided to try 20 and went and dropped the squid pole and changed the dipole link as soon as i put the last Anderson plug in
A strong overseas Station came up I went to the 817 and thought well lets try and call him I worked the station FW5JJ on Wallis Island AH16YS Operator Jean 5X8 BY 5X9 He is operating from there for 2 years I was pleased to work my first real DX QRP
I am waiting for a 50 watt amp to come in the mail and i feel sure it will help
with overseas S/S pleased with my last activation today

Congrats, Rod for that first DX QRP.
I’m sure you’ll not feel the same level of satisfaction when you’ll work DX with that 50 watt amp you are waiting to receive by mail.
Working DX with 5 watts is exciting, amazing and it can only be beaten by working DX with 1 watt,
QRP is great.
QRO too, of course, but different…

Luck (and the vaguaries of propagation) plays a part, but a little extra power (and a good antenna) can certainly help with the DX. Good luck with the next activation.
